Crews in Youngstown had quite the busy night on Sunday when they responded to a 10-car pileup near Himrod Avenue.

Pictures posted to Youngstown Professional Firefighters Local 312 show the chaotic scene with cars of all shapes and sizes crashed into each other on the Himrod Avenue Expressway.

According to a police report the crash occurred just before 11:00 p.m. Sunday on the flyover ramp from I-680 Southbound to I-62 Northbound, otherwise known as the Himrod Avenue Expressway.

Upon arrival, police found 15 to 20 people standing outside of their vehicles walking around on the ramp and in the grass nearby. Police say several vehicles were boxed in and fire crews had to walk upon the vehicles to check on each one.

Despite the large scale of the crash, police say no one was seriously injured.

Police say nine of the vehicles had to be towed away, but one driver was able to drive themselves away from the scene. One family from out of state was transported to the DoubleTree hotel in downtown Youngstown for a place to stay overnight.

Youngstown Fire is reminding drivers to exercise caution when driving in snowy, icy conditions and that bridges will always be the first thing to freeze.
