Boardman High School student's art to be featured in Governor's Cameo Art Show

BOARDMAN, Ohio - A Boardman High School student will soon have her art on display in Ohio Governor Mike DeWine's office in Columbus.
According to a press release, Boardman High School Junior Gina Misel's watercolor painting "Lily Pond" will be featured in the Cameo Show for the Governor DeWine's Youth Art Exhibition in May.
Misel's painting was among the top 5% of over 8,000 high school students who submitted. Only 300 pieces were chosen for the exhibit.
Misel's piece is among less than 50 additional works chosen to be featured in the Governor's private Cameo Show in his offices where it will hang throughout the month of May.
The piece began with a photo Misel snapped on her phone while on vacation in North Carolina. She then used that photo as the model for her painting.
Misel's art teacher Amanda Bero says she worked during school and beyond until she was satisfied with it. It has since won her three first place awards including the Canfield Artshow, a Gold Key at the Scholastic Art Competition and now the Governor's Cameo Award.
Misel plans on studio studio art and art education and sees herself teaching in the future.
