HUBBARD, Ohio - The Hubbard Save A Lot location is closing its doors Thursday afternoon.

21 News has confirmed that an eviction notice was given to the grocer after speaking with Save A Lot employees and landlord Donn McConnell.

McConnell told 21 News that he did not want to give the store an eviction notice, but said they've been able to pay their full rent.

He says Save A Lot has only been paying enough to keep up with maintenance costs.

McConnell said it's unfortunate that the location didn't work out, saying that having a second grocery store in Hubbard would have been good for the community.

A Save A Lot employee told 21 News they need be out of the location by 3 p.m. Thursday.

We've reached out to Save A Lot corporate but they have not heard back.

McConnell says he's put out feelers for a new tenant to take over the space.
