Case of Youngstown Dean of Students reset due to conflict of interest regarding witness

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The case of Youngstown City Schools Dean of Students and East High School basketball coach has been reset for the appointment of a visiting judge.
During a scheduled pretrial hearing for Chivas Whipple, Girard Municipal Court Judge Jeffery Adler reset the case to be heard by a visiting judge because Whipple is a well known member of the community.
Additionally, Judge Adler mentioned that Whipple is a basketball coach for East High School and his Chief Probation Officer Keith Gunther is a basketball coach for Ursuline High School.
Judge Adler says one of Gunther's players was a witness in the incident, which would bring a conflict of interest.
In addition, Judge Adler issued a warning to Whipple regarding allegations that he had been going by the house of the witnesses and/or the victim when he was ordered to have no contact with them.
Whipple's attorneys denied these allegations stating that he had barely left his home since he was charged. Nevertheless, Judge Adler warned Whipple that if he hears any further allegations about this, his bond will be revoked.
