Eagle Joint Fire District reminds residents of importance of CPR

HUBBARD, Ohio - The Eagle Joint Fire District in Hubbard is reminding folks of the importance of CPR knowledge in cases where medical crews are tied up.
This reminder was prompted by an incident on Tuesday, March 12 detailed in a Facebook post on the Eagle Joint Fire District's Facebook page when someone witnessed cardiac arrest on West Park Avenue.
According to the fire department, as this was happening, all on duty crews were at the scene of another critical incident, so Liberty Township medical crews, Hubbard Police and off-duty Hubbard firefighters were called to the scene.
Two Hubbard police officers were the first to arrive at the scene and began applying a defibrillator to the patient and the patient was able to regain consciousness just as medical crews arrived.
The fire department has stressed that incidents like this serve as a reminder to the importance of CPR training and knowledge.
"We would like to stress the importance of early defibrillation and CPR for patients in cardiac arrest. This is a scenario that exemplifies this necessity. One in which the outcome resulted in the preservation of a beloved resident's life," the post reads.
The fire department encourages folks to reach out to their local American Heart Association facility to learn about and become proficient in CPR.
