WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senator JD Vance (R-OH) has filed an amicus brief in support of the State of Ohio's lawsuit against Google. The lawsuit, which was filed by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, is trying to regulate Google as a common carrier.

This will allow the State of Ohio to fight back against Google's alleged viewpoint discrimination against conservatives.

In his brief, Senator Vance argues that Google has taken contrary legal positions in an effort to defend its monopoly power. In previous cases where Google tried to get liability protection, the company said it was acting as a 'neutral passthrough for third party content.'

In this case, Google is now saying that it acts as a curator of the data that it delivers to consumers through secret algorithms.
