Former Campbell Law Director Brian Macala has plead guilty to a less serious charge following an investigation into allegations he stole an election opponent's campaign leaflets from someone's front porch.

The former law director who had been charged with criminal theft and criminal mischief plead guilty to disorderly conduct last week. The criminal mischief charge was dismissed as a result.

The Judge fined Macala $150 and handed down a suspended 30 day sentence, according to court records.

The theft charges stem from an incident where Macala removed a piece of Campbell Municipal Court judge-elect Mark Kolmacic's political literature from a home and replaced it with one of his own.

The act was recorded on the homeowner's Ring video doorbell.

The doorbell camera video shows Macala taking a leaflet from the porch and shoving it into his jacket pocket while campaigning at the person's home before replacing it with one of his own.

Kolmacic defeated Macala in the judge race during the November Primary Election receiving 57% of the vote.
