After nearly two years of work, Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is ready to open its brand-new surgery and outpatient pavilion in Columbiana.

The new facility is located at Town Center at Firestone Farms.

The 76,000-square-foot pavilion offers patients a convenient, lower-cost alternative to hospital-based outpatient care while delivering the same high levels of quality, safety, and advanced technologies.

"We spent a lot of time planning for all these services and trying to transform how we deliver healthcare," said Anita Hackstedde, President & CEO of Salem Regional Medical Center. "So, it's nice to see we're finally here."

The $40 million project was funded through bonds from the City of Columbiana along with SRMC's reserves. The building cost was $33 million and the equipment ran the hospital about $7 million.

Services provided at the new facility include medical imaging at the Advanced Radiology Center located on the first floor.

The center will offer many of the latest advancements in medical imagining technology including 3T MRIs, CT scans, 3D mammograms, ultrasounds, DEXA scans, and digital X-rays.

Walk-ins are available for the mammogram and digital X-ray services during normal business hours.

"This is a very unique facility," Hackstedde added. "We do all outpatient services. We have the same quality and safety level as what you expect from the hospital but at a much more convenient location and a lower cost."

The second floor will house the Firestone Surgery Center, which will specialize in providing same-day surgeries with some of the area's most advanced equipment and technology.

The center will offer a streamlined, cost-effective alternative to the traditional hospital outpatient surgery setting.

The third floor will house the Firestone Infusion Center, providing outpatient intravenous therapies and treatments for various chronic conditions and allowing patients to receive comprehensive and compassionate care in their community.

"We started to look at what's happening with healthcare and what direction it's going," Hackstedde said. "We knew it was moving to the outpatient world. Hospitals have long been focusing on what's happening within their walls and we wanted to look at how we bring healthcare to our patients."

"I'm excited about the buildout," explained Linda Camp, Plastic Surgeon with SRMC. "Plus the architectural design and the finished work. The touches that have been placed are going to make you feel comfortable when you come here and well taken care of."

Camp added hospitals are overflowing, which is part of the driving force of the services offered at the outpatient center. Appointments will soon be available to book in just a few short weeks.

Starting in April, multi-specialty physician practices will open on the first and third floors including the relocation of SRMC's Immediate Care Service.

These physician offices will include separate suites for a plastic and reconstructive surgery program and primary and specialty care practices including family medicine, ear, nose, and throat and pain management.
