Police have filed several charges against two Sharon men accused of committing sex crimes against children in the same Grove City neighborhood.

Twenty-one-year-old Rodnea Maxwell and 27-year-old Shylear Person were arrested following an investigation sparked by tips from a Mercer County Children and Youth Services caseworker.

A 17-year-old boy told officers that when he was 10 years old, Maxwell sexually assaulted him while the boy was visiting a friend overnight at a townhome on Enclave Drive.

A 15-year-old girl told police that she was eight years old when Maxwell allegedly molested her at the same home where a relative of Maxwell’s was babysitting her.

According to a criminal complaint, a 17-year-old boy said when he was ten years old being babysat at a different address on Enclave Drive when Shylear Person told him to undress and said if the boy wanted to play with his X-Box, he would have to perform a sex act on Person.  The teen says he refused.

Person, who is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, unlawful contact with a minor, and corruption of minors, faces arraignment in Mercer County Common Pleas Court on May 21.

Maxwell is jailed on $100,000 bond awaiting an April 10th hearing on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, indecent assault of a person under 13,  aggravated indecent assault of a child, and indecent assault on a person under 13.
