Police arrest suspect for New Years Day shooting in Youngstown

A man suspected in the shooting that wounded one person on the east side of Youngstown has been arrested.
Allen Torres, 27, is believed to be connected to a shooting on the 2100 block of Hubbard Road that sent one person to the hospital.
According to a police report, Torres was arrested on Tuesday, March 20, during a traffic stop regarding an expire license plate.
Originally, Torres gave the name of someone else to the officers. He also said there weren't any guns in the vehicle he was driving.
However, during a search of the car, they discovered a a Glock 26 with an extended magazine tucked in the driver side door.
Torres was charged with having weapons under disability, falsification, obstructing official business and improper handling in motor vehicle.
At this time, it's unclear if the person, whose identity Torres used, will press charges.
He is being held at the Mahoning County Jail and will be arraigned in court March 21 at 4:30 p.m. in Judge Joseph Houser's court.
