A federal grand jury in Cleveland returned a five-count indictment charging three men with aiding and abetting each other in the robbery of a mail carrier.

The indictment charges Devin Sims, Michael Williams and Teontaey Thomas with aiding and abetting each other in the robbery of mail or property of the United States and stealing keys adopted by the Post Office. Sims and Williams are also charged with brandishing a firearm during a crime and mail theft.

The three men were arrested after a joint investigation by the United States Postal Inspection Service, FBI and South Euclid Police Department.

According to the release, the men robbed a postal carrier on November 7, 2023, and stole the carrier's key which opens blue mailboxes belonging to the United States Postal Service. Sims and Williams are accused of using the key on a mailbox in South Euclid four days later.

Crimes like these are becoming a growing trend nationwide.

In the Mahoning Valley, there have been several crimes against postal workers in recent months.

Mail carrier Jonte Davis was shot and killed in Warren on March 2, 2024.

Another postal worker was robbed for his arrow key in Youngstown along Kensington Avenue on December 11, 2023. Two days later on December 13, three unidentified men tackled a postal carrier on Melbourne Avenue in Boardman and stole his arrow key.
