STRUTHERS, Ohio - Many in the Valley are celebrating the resurrection of Christ this Easter Sunday, and some people got an extra early start as they lined up outside Giannios Candy Co. for their annual Easter sale.

Giannios opened bright and early Sunday morning, with 50% off everything. People lined up outside the shop before 6:30 a.m.

Owner John Giannios says it's become a tradition for many families around the Valley. He estimates around 2,000 customers will stop by for this year's sale.

The sale came about on accident, several decades ago. Giannios says they weren't open on Easter, until a customer called early in the morning in need of Easter candy. Giannios opened the store for that customer, but other people noticed and stopped by to shop. It became tradition in the years that followed.

All candy is made in-house, at their shop on Youngstown-Poland Road in Struthers.

Giannios Candy will be open until 4 p.m. Sunday.
