Campbell man sentenced to 18 years to life in prison for Youngstown murder

A Campbell man who was found guilty of a murder in Youngstown back in 2022 has learned his fate in court on Thursday.
Forty-seven-year-old John Morgan was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison plus a three-year firearm specification on charges of murder, voluntary manslaughter and felonious assault stemming from the murder of 46-year-old Daniel Peek back in July of 2022.
His total sentence is 18 years to life in prison.
The murder occurred when Morgan went to Peek's Youngstown home to pick up his daughter and grandson and fired a round from his gun into the ground before getting into a fight with Peek and his son.
Morgan dropped the gun during the fight, but picked it back up and shot Peek in the back. Peek was taken to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
