Over $704,000 awarded for EV charging station at Mercer County gas station

MERCER, Pa. - Electric vehicle owners in Mercer County will soon have a new spot to charge up their vehicles.
According to a press release, Francis Energy PA LLC was awarded $704,968 in grant funding for a charging station at a Shell gas station in Mercer just off of I-80 exit 15 (854, Perry Highway, Mercer)
The funding is part of $20 million in funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) for round 1A of the federal National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) funding.
The goal of the funding is to expand access to and the reliability of EV charging throughout Pennsylvania.
Additionally, PennDOT has released priority areas for NEVI Round 1B, which is designed to fill gaps in the remaining alternative fuel corridors following the Round 1 and Round 1A awards.
