Senator Sherrod Brown secured funding for key Mahoning Valley projects in recent bipartisan government funding packages.

The total amount of funds comes over $22 million and is broken down into the following projects:

  • $6,160,00 to resurface a primary runway and other projects at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport.
  • $4,200,000 for improvements at the Lordstown Water Transmission and Distribution System.
  • $2,500,000 to build a community learning center at the Mahoning Valley Community School.
  • $2,500,000 to help plan and design a base fire station at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station.
  • $1,450,000 to the OH WOW! Center for Science and Technology.
  • $1,284,652 to help replace deteriorating parts of Youngstown's sewer system.
  • $1,200,000 to replace lead water service lines in Youngstown.
  • $1,020,000 for renovations at the former Foster Theatre building in Youngstown.
  • $750,000 to COMPASS Family and Community Services in Mahoning County for renovations.
  • $650,000 for a business hub in East Liverpool to promote entrepreneurship.
  • $400,000 to support the Youngstown Eastside Connector Study.
  • $263,000 to expand the Canfield Township Public Works Department building, and
  • $239,000 to Direction Home of Eastern Ohio in Youngstown for its Kinship Summer Camp program.

Additionally, Brown announced an investment to establish a private well sampling program that will help ensure safe drinking water for homes downstream from the East Palestine train derailment site.
