Time Magazine photographer gives photos to East Palestine Residents

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio - Rebecca Kiger spent a year documenting the aftermath of the East Palestine train derailment, and today allowed members of the community to pick up photos of themselves that she had taken.
Kiger attended an exhibit at the East Palestine Public Library showing the photos that couldn't make it into the Times special report. She says her exhibit has gone on so long after the derailment in part because of how generous the community was with her.
"I always knew that I wanted a way to give them photographs and when I asked a couple of people in town what they would like, they said why don't we have a show at the library?" Kiger said. All of the work at the exhibit will be given to the library.
Kiger dropped off over 1000 new photos to the exhibit Saturday. She says she didn't start the project with any specific focus but after hearing all of the stories from East Palestine residents that the project turned into a compilation of everyone's stories.
Photos can be picked up from the East Palestine Public Library. The exhibit is open to everyone, and will be open the throughout the month of April.
