Boardman woman accused of attacking husband with scissors
A Boardman woman is behind bars after police say she attacked her husband with scissors during an argument.
According to a police report, officers responded to an apartment on Willow Drive in Boardman for a report of a fight involving scissors.
Police spoke with the male victim who told officers his wife, identified as 48-year-old Jennifer Bennett was heavily intoxicated and accused him of using a dish cloth from the kitchen resulting in a verbal argument.
Police say this eventually escalated when Bennett went into the kitchen and came back with a pair of scissors in her hands. Police say Bennett pressed the scissors into the side of her husband's head.
The husband told police he attempted to push Bennett away, but she swung at him with the hand holding the scissors.
Police say when the husband tried walking towards the door to leave the apartment, she continued to poke him in the back with the scissors and followed him outside until he called police.
Police observed a small cut on the right side of the husband's head and on the inside of his right ear. Police say he refused medical treatment.
Upon arrival, police tried knocking on the door several times, but got no response.
According to the report, officers were able to pop the screen door open with a crowbar without damaging it. However, police say when the husband tried to enter through the main door Bennett kept locking it back up. Police were eventually able to force entry into the apartment.
Police say Bennett was resistant during her arrest, allegedly refusing to turn around and pulling her hands away when officers tried to handcuff her. Police were eventually able to handcuff her and place her in the cruiser.
Bennett is currently in the Mahoning County Jail and is charged with felonious assault, domestic violence, resisting arrest and obstructing official business.
She was arraigned on these charges on Tuesday and is due back in court April 16 for a pretrial hearing.
