NEW SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Just as heavy eclipse traffic began to subside on the Ohio Turnpike in New Springfield, some drivers found themselves in another predicament.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP) is now reporting a four-vehicle crash on I-76 Eastbound at mile marker 238 right near where traffic was backed up for hours Tuesday.

A viewer who lives near the Glacier Hills Service Plaza on the Ohio Turnpike in New Springfield told 21 News she had observed traffic moving very slowly on the turnpike Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Dispatchers with the OSP's Hiram post, which handles the Turnpike attributed this heavy traffic to people heading back into Pennsylvania following the total solar eclipse on Monday.

Now, OSP tells us a four-vehicle crash occurred in the area with multiple vehicles rear-ending each other. We're told no one was seriously injured as a result and all vehicles are now off the roadway.

OSP tells 21 News there are no lane restrictions or closures they are aware of, but drivers should still exercise caution when driving through the area.

A map of the location of the crash can be seen below.
