Investigators describe a bloody scene inside the Boardman home where a dog attacked its owners on Tuesday.

A report by the township police Crime Scene Investigation officer reveals that in addition to blood trailing from the front and back doors of the home on Wilda Avenue, blood was found throughout the first floor, including the kitchen, bathroom, and living room.

The report doesn’t say if the blood is human or animal, but police say they also found what appeared to be human flesh on the kitchen floor.

Investigators also found spent shell casings inside the home, along with a 9 mm handgun and an empty magazine.

Police first learned about what was going on in the home when a caller told a dispatcher that the Pit Bull was attacking people.  During that call, the dispatcher heard six shots fired.

When officers arrived, one of three people outside of the house said two people were still inside.

Police called on one of the people to come outside. When he did, paramedics treated him for a dog bite on his foot. He was taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Police had to go inside searching for the second person. They found a man who had locked himself in the basement along with the dog, who was now sitting in a cage.

After the man was taken to Mercy Hospital for treatment of a dog bite, police say they discovered that there was a warrant for his arrest.

Before police could take him into custody, they say he checked himself out of the hospital.  Police are still looking for him.

Mahoning County Deputy Dog Warden Dave Nelson tells 21 News the dog must quarantined for 10 days.
