New owner moving 200 year old home in Canfield to Michigan

Chris Hernan, a Michigan resident and Ohio native, has plans for a 200 year old house in Canfield. Hernan bought the home off Facebook marketplace, and now plans to have the home taken apart, and rebuilt on his property in Holly, Michigan.
The previous owner sold the home after being told by Canfield township to tear down the house because of its condition. According to the the construction company moving the house, most of the house was damaged.
"It had a lot of water leaking, is what started ruining the roof, and it just wasn't livable anymore," said Chris Bartlett, Owner of Bartlett Remodeling LLC.
The house was built around 1830, and now some of the part of the home aren't even usable.
Hernan is concerned that once the deconstruction is complete, the house may be too old to put back together. Even so, he still plans to use any pieces he can when he rebuilds the house on his property.
The previous owner sold the home as a way to preserve its history.
"A lot of people in the township have been wanting it torn down, but I wanted to preserve history. I wasn't going to let a shovel take it down." said former owner of the house Jim Steiner.
Hernan is an Ohio native, and says he wants to learn as much about the home's history as possible. Once built, the home will allow Hernan to continue his dream of owning a brewery, and to house his reptiles.
"Both of those are hobbies that have turned into businesses," said Hernan.
Hernan says he only spent a couple thousand on the home, but moving the home is expensive. The new owner already invested around $20,000 in moving expenses, and expects the entire project to cost around $80,000.
The construction crews are expecting to be on the road with the home on Thursday.
