The Cafaro Foundation and Eastwood Mall honored the Cheer Team from Austintown Fitch High School with a champions rally this afternoon at the Eastwood Mall's Center Court.

Last month, the team captured the OASSA State Championship in Division II- the first time in school history.

"Cheer is not a sport that is usually recognized," said Julie Williams, head cheer coach, "and so these girls, if everybody realized what they do and what they put into it and how long they've been working to have those skills to do something like this, it's just really amazing."

"I couldn't even remember the moment like, we all were crying with happiness, our families came down to the mat. It was the best moment I think I've ever had within my fitch cheer career," said Emily Beany, senior team captain.

The team also showed off some of their skills in a routine performed for the crowd, as the general public was invited to attend to congratulate the Falcons on their major achievement..

As part of the festivities, the Cafaro Foundation made a $10,000 donation to Austintown Fitch.
