VIENNA TWP., Ohio - A Vienna Township man who had recently been convicted of choking a woman while she was holding her son has now been indicted for allegedly lying about his military service.

According to a grand jury report, 32-year-old Kotey Paden was indicted on a perjury charge. Perjury is defined as lying while under oath.

When Paden testified to answer to charges of strangulation, domestic violence and endangering children, he testified that he was a combat veteran serving overseas in the U.S. military.

However, prosecutors not only was that story made up, but Paden was also dishonorably discharged from the military due to criminal offenses.

Paden is on the veterans docket for a felony case in Mahoning County involving aggravated vehicular assault.

Paden was sentenced in his strangulation case back in March. No court date has been set for Paden on his perjury charge.
