The treasurer of the Girard Soccer League who was accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the organization has pleaded to intervention in lieu of conviction on Wednesday.

According to a motion filed in the Trumbull County Court of Common Pleas and granted by Judge Cynthia Rice, 42-year-old Valgene Erickson was ordered to undergo treatment for his actions rather than incarceration.

Erickson was charged with one count of Grand Theft, a felony in the fourth degree after two brothers who run the club reported an overdraft in one of their bank accounts, as well as several checks to Erickson and questionable expenditures from her.

These expenditures included Amazon, Walmart, gas station and fast food purchases, as well as charges from a hotel.

It was estimated that Erickson had stolen over $14,000 from the organization.
