Editor's note: An earlier version of this story identified Vince Colaluca as a candidate for the Boardman superintendent position. While Colaluca is an applicant for the job, he is not one of the four candidates under consideration.

Boardman Local Schools has narrowed down the search for the next superintendent to four candidates to replace outgoing superintendent Tim Saxton.

Those four candidates, listed in alphabetical order, are:

Al Cervello, current principal at West Boulevard Elementary in Boardman

Joseph Clark, superintendent of the Westerville city schools

Chris Neifer, superintendent of the East Palestine city schools

and

Pete Pirone, superintendent of the Struthers city schools.

There were 11 total applicants for the position, which were whittled down to the four finalists by the board of education.

Those applicants included former Austintown schools superintendent Vince Colaluca, along with Trisha Delaney, Michael Dobran, Joseph Geletka, Greg Kibler, Michael King and John Wilson .

That vetting process included a community survey that was compared to each applicants resume, qualifications and past history, among other factors.

Interviews for the job are underway and continue next week.
