A couple from Struthers spent part of the weekend in jail after police said their 5-year-old son ate a THC gummy, thinking it was a piece of candy.

The child’s mother, 30-year-old Sandra Hall took the boy to the hospital after the THC Delta 9 gummy made him lethargic, and unable to move, followed by vomiting and seizures.

Police say the father, 36-year-old Jamie Hall told officers that he left a bottle of gummies out at their Perry Street home, and the five-year-old ate one, believing it was candy.

The child tested positive for THC at the hospital, according to police.

Both parents were booked into the county jail and were scheduled to appear before a judge in Struthers Municipal Court on Monday to answer charges of child endangering.

The five-year-old and the couple’s other children were turned over to relatives.
