Ultra-low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines plans to launch daily, nonstop seasonal service between Pittsburgh and George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston starting June 5.

Operating the route daily with an Airbus A320 aircraft, the inbound flight will depart from Houston at 6:58 a.m. local time and arrive in Pittsburgh at 10:48 a.m. The outbound flight will depart from Pittsburgh at 12:40 p.m. and arrive in Houston at 3 p.m. Flights can be booked at Spirit.com.

The announcement comes as Pittsburgh International Airport announced that total passenger numbers climbed 10 percent in March, including a 37.5 percent rise in nonstop international passengers (travelers that begin and end their trips in Pittsburgh) for the month.

Year-to-date, total passengers at PIT are up 8.1 percent, surpassing 2 million passengers during the first quarter for the first time since 2019.
