A Warren man was flown to a hospital with severe head injuries after police say his ex-girlfriend repeatedly beat him with a baseball bat.

Twenty-seven-year-old Lasha Johnson called police to her Lancer Court NW apartment Saturday afternoon where officers found Jarquis Threats outside on the ground bleeding from his ear and the back of his head.

Johnson told police that Threats arrived uninvited and began arguing with her through the screen door.

According to the police report, Johnson said she struck Threats with an aluminum baseball bat after he spat at her.

Officers say video of the incident recorded by a neighbor, shows Johnson opening the screen door, following Threats, and hitting him with the bat two times as he walked away backward.

Officers say the video showed Threats falling in the parking lot.

“Lasha then stood over Jarquis defenseless body and struck him two more times with the baseball bat, then she went back into her residence,” according to a narrative in the police report.

First taken to a Warren hospital, doctors found Threats was suffering from multiple skull fractures, a brain bleed, and that his brain had shifted,

Due to his severe condition, Threats was flown by Medevac to Mercy Hospital’s trauma center in Youngstown.

Johnson, who was handcuffed and taken to jail, pleaded not guilty to a charge of felonious assault during her court appearance on Monday.  Another court hearing is set for April 30.
