DECISION 2024: Mercer, Lawrence counties experience 'exceptionally' low turnout for primaries

Polls are still open for the primaries going on in Pennsylvania right now - just don't expect them to be packed in Mercer or Lawrence counties.
Polling locations in Mercer County is reporting "exceptionally low" voter turnout according to Thad Hall, the director of elections in the county.
This sentiment was echoed in Lawrence County by Tim Germani, the county's elections director.
"Some of my busiest precincts that see 90 or more voters in the first two hours of polls being opened have seen somewhere as low as 15," Hall added.
While it's not completely clear why, Hall and Germani suggest that turnout is so low this year because of the number of uncontested races in both primaries at the presidential and U.S. Senate level.
In the mean time, Hall said he's using today as the last walk through for November's general election, which he considers to be the Superbowl.
Polls opened at 7:30 a.m. and are expected to be open until 8 p.m., so it won't be clear until later tonight what the exact turnout numbers will be, but it doesn't look like it will be high.
