A new business has purchased a former Youngstown bingo supply warehouse on Salt Springs Road in Youngstown.

The Cleveland Steel Container Corporation purchased the 61,348 sq. ft. facility for $4.2 million at 2750 Salt Springs Road in late March.

According to Ohio EPA filings, Cleveland Steel Container Corporation filed in January for a permit to install and operate a facility to manufacture a one-gallon steel paint can coating line.

The draft permit is to install a regenerative thermal oxidizer, a combustion device that controls volatile organic compounds and hazardous air pollutants with heat before releasing them.

Cleveland Steel Container currently operates plants in Niles, Streetsboro; Quakertown, Pennsylvania; Peotone, Illinois and Kilgore, Texas.

The facility was built in 1990 and sits on 7.5 acres in the city.

The company's marketing person told 21 News that more information on the facility's plans would be announced in the fall.

The facility received a draft air pollution permit to install and operate on April 23. However, it must await final approval from the Ohio EPA after a public notice for comments, information requests, a public hearing, or an appeal timeframe is complete.

The legal notice for the facility was published Monday. More information regarding the EPA filing can be found on the Ohio EPA site or by contacting Hearing Clerk, Ohio EPA, 50 W. Town St. P.O.
