A mother duck and her ducklings were very lucky this afternoon.

A mother and her ducklings were saved by a group of good samaritans and the Howland Fire Department after they were hit while trying to cross the road.

The mom and her ducklings were crossing Route 46 in front of Natoli Chiropractic in Howland when they were struck by a car.

After they were hit, one bystander scooped up the ducks and took them to the Birds in Flight Sanctuary in Canfield.

During the commotion, one duckling fell into down into a sewer grate.

The Howland Fire Department came to the rescue, and were able to save the duckling from the grate.

The lone duckling was then reunited with the rest of it's family at the sanctuary.
