Boardman Schools have officially named their new superintendent.

During a special meeting Tuesday evening, the Boardman Board of Education unanimously approved Neifer as the district’s next leader when Tim Saxton retires July 31.

Neifer accepted the offer from board members, and signed a three year contract with the district effective August 3rd.

Neifer has been an educator for 28 years, including time as a science teacher, coach, and elementary and high school principal. For the past six years, Neifer has served as superintendent of East Palestine City School District.

Neifer resides in Boardman with his wife, Amy and his son Ryan. Ryan is currently a sophomore at Boardman High School.

"I've lived here in the community for over 20 years, so I'm very familiar with the traditions, the desire and need for excellence," said Neifer.

Neifer is replacing Tim Saxton, who is retiring at the end of July.
