Second stabbing in less than one week reported at Youngstown prison, victim in critical condition

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Less than one week after an inmate was stabbed in a Youngstown prison, another inmate has been hospitalized after being stabbed.
According to CoreCivic Public Affairs Manager Brian Todd, another inmate was stabbed around 12:40 p.m. on Monday, May 13 in the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center on Hubbard Road.
The inmate was quickly treated by medical staff and transported to the hospital for further treatment.
According to a police report from YPD, the victim was last reported to be in critical condition.
This is the second stabbing at CoreCivic in less than a week with another inmate being stabbed as recently as Thursday, May 9. Todd tells us this inmate was hospitalized but has since returned to the prison the next morning.
At this time, it is unclear if these two stabbings are connected.
