LIBERTY TWP, Ohio - The driver charged in connection with a deadly one-car crash in Liberty is out of the hospital and now in jail.

Twenty-five-year-old Dylan Vranchich of Hubbard was transferred to the Trumbull County jail on Sunday, nearly three days after he was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries he received when his car struck a utility pole and caught fire along Colonial Drive in Liberty Township.

The accident, which happened after midnight Friday, claimed the life of a passenger in the car, 41-year-old Nicholas Thompson of Youngstown.

Unsafe speed contributed to the crash, according to Troopers who say Vrancich was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Vranchich will be arraigned in Girard Municipal Court on one count of aggravated vehicular homicide.
