Youngstown State University has recommended current interim provost Dr. Jennifer Pintar as the University's new Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Pintar has been serving as interim provost since January of 2024. According to a press release, YSU President Bill Johnson has expressed confidence in Pintar's ability to lead the University's academic affairs.

"[Pintar's] demonstrated leadership over the last five months as Interim Provost has demonstrated that she is absolutely the right person to lead our office of Academic Affairs into an exciting and dynamic future," Johnson said.

Pintar has been with YSU for over two decades. During her time at the University, she's served as provost for Academic Administration & Student Outreach Support and associate provost for Academic Administration.

She also served as an instructor in human performance and exercise science and climbed up the ranks eventually reaching the status of professor and chairperson of the Human Performance and Exercise Science department prior to moving into administration.

Pintar earned her Ph.D. and masters degree in Exercise Physiology, as well as a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology from the University of Pittsburgh. She holds a bachelors degree in Biology from Washington and Jefferson College.
