No jail time for mom of convicted Rowan Sweeney killer

YOUNGSTOWN - There’ll be no jail time for the mother of a man convicted in connection with the shooting death of four-year-old Rowan Sweeney at a Struthers home nearly four years ago.
Forty-six-year-old Lashawn Scott was placed on probation for two years during a sentencing hearing on Thursday.
Scott pleaded guilty earlier to tampering with evidence for trying to hide evidence in the case of her son, 27-year-old Kimonie Bryant who pleaded guilty to aggravated murder for his role in the child’s death on September 1, 2020, during a robbery.
Last month’s sentencing hearing for Bryant was canceled after a motion was filed alleging that he lied to prosecutors during his plea deal. Another hearing is set for July 2.
Two others convicted in the case have upcoming sentencing hearings.
The sentencing of 21-year-old Brandon Crump is set for June 26. A jury found Crump guilty of murder, attempted murder, felonious assault, aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, and conspiracy.
Twenty-four-year-old Andre McCoy, who pleaded guilty to murder, is scheduled to take place on July 10.
