The Youngstown State baseball team survived Purdue Fort Wayne 12-10 in Thursday night's elimination game after losing to Wright State 12-2 earlier in the day.
The Penguins drove in three runs in the top of the 1st and added three more in the top of the 3rd taking a 6-0 lead.
Purdue Fort Wayne responded with a seven run 3rd inning to take a 7-6 lead over YSU.
With the game tied at 10 in the 8th inning, RJ Sherwood hit a line drive to center field scoring Eli Brown and the Penguins reclaimed the lead 11-10.
Cardinal Mooney product Ian Francis went 4-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI's.
Youngstown State advances to the third day of the Horizon League Tournament in Dayton where they will play fourth-seeded Milwaukee at 3 p.m.
