YOUNGSTOWN - Two people have been appointed to the Youngstown State University Board of Trustees.

Sterling Williams of Warren, Ohio, and Zane Perrico, a junior at YSU, have been appointed to the board by Gov. Mike DeWine. Perrico was appointed as a student trustee.

Born and raised in Youngstown, Williams is the owner of Sterling McCullough Williams Funeral Home, a family-owned business with more than 70 years of experience in the Warren and Youngstown areas. He also manages other companies like Tax master Accounting and Tax Services and Twin Realty and Leasing among others.

"Sterling brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the community to the YSU Board of Trustees," YSU President Bill Johnson said. "His leadership and expertise will be invaluable as we continue to advance our mission of providing high-quality education, fostering community partnerships and making YSU the anchor university in Northeast Ohio."

He has served on several boards throughout the community including the YSU Penguins Club, The Western Reserve Port Authority, the Warren-Youngstown Economic Development Committee and more.

Williams is a graduate of Rayan High School, he got his bachelor's degree at Miami University in 1977. He got his masters at Kent State University in 1980, according to a news release from YSU..

Perrico, a Canfield High School graduate, is a member of the YSU Sokolov Honors College and a YSU Student Senator, where he serves on the Academic Programs Committee, the Academic Grievances Board and Calendar and Course Schedule Task Force, the release says.

Additionally, he is a peer tutor in the Resch Academic Success Center, assisting students in their studies. He's also a member of the National Mathematics Honors Society and the American Physical Society.

Williams will serve a nine-year term through June 2035, where he replaces Molly Seals, whose term recently expired.

Perrico replaces Julie Centofanti, who has graduated, and will serve on the board for two years.
