Police officers from three departments were called to help investigate the latest murder in Youngstown.

According to a media release, officers from Liberty Township and Youngstown State University assisted city police in investigating a shooting on the East Side just after 1 a.m. Monday.

Officers went to a driveway on the 1400 block of Republic Avenue where they found a 39-year-old man who had been shot several times.

EMTs' efforts to save the victim’s life were not successful and he died.

Detectives and the coroner are investigating the murder.

Anyone with information about the shooting is being asked to call Youngstown Police or Crime Stoppers 330-746-CLUE.  Tips may remain anonymous, according to the media release.
