Second suspect pleads guilty to arson that killed Warren teen

WARREN, Ohio - The second suspect in a deadly arson that claimed the life of a Warren teen pled guilty to his role in the crime.
After initially rejecting a plea deal, 30-year-old Brendan Daviduk returned to court less than a week later to accept the deal and plead guilty to charges of Aggravated Murder, Attempted Aggravated Murder, Aggravated Arson, Aggravated Burglary and Tampering With Evidence.
The prosecution recommended a sentence of life in prison with a chance of parole after 32 years. Daviduk will also have to register as a violent offender. Trumbull County Assistant Prosecutor Chris Becker says the victim's family is satisfied with this deal.
Daviduk will be sentenced following a pre-sentence investigation.
The charges stem from a deadly arson back in January of 2023 that claimed the life of 16-year-old Chassidy Broadstone. Police believe the incident to have stemmed from an ongoing feud regarding child support with some of the children in the home.
Chassidy was not one of the children involved in that dispute.
Prosecutors say Daviduk, along with co-defendants Zackary Gurd and Patricia Zarlingo drove to the home from Youngstown in order to steal items from the home.
Gurd brought a can of gasoline to the home, which started the fire. Gurd pled guilty to his role in the crime back in December of 2023, but has not been sentenced yet.
Zarlingo is the only suspect who has not been convicted in this case yet. She was scheduled to go on trial back in April, but this was delayed to July 23 in order to give attorneys time to review documents pertaining to her.
