A new billboard in Boardman is looking for leads in a Mahoning Valley cold case from nearly 50 years ago.

Joanne Elaine Coughlin, 21, went missing on December 27, 1974, after signing in at a health spa in Boardman.

The new billboard is part of an awareness campaign through Season of Justice, a non-profit dedicated to providing funding to families and law enforcement to help solve cold cases. The organization was founded in 2020 by Ashley Flowers, the host of Crime Junkie Podcast.

According to NamUs, Coughlin made plans to meet her boyfriend at his home later that night but never arrived.

Her 1968 Ford Fairlane also disappeared and hasn't been recovered.

Coughlin was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black shirt, a green leather jacket and tan shoes. She is described as a white female, 5'8", 140 pounds, with green eyes.

The billboard will remain up through July.

If you have information on Coughlin's case, call Youngstown Police at 330-747-7911.
