LEETONIA, Ohio - A roadway in Leetonia is closing next week for gas line improvements.

State Route 344 will close on June 10 to install new gas lines on Chestnut Street between Front Street and State Street. While the repairs are being done on Chestnut Street, Columbia Gas will have to close State Route 344.

Below is the posted detour:

• East along SR 344 into Columbiana, north on SR 164 through Columbiana, west on SR 14 to Salem, south on SR 344, then continuing east on SR 344 back to Leetonia.
• West along SR 344 into Salem, north on SR 344, east on SR 14 to Columbiana, south on SR 164 through Columbiana, then continuing west on SR 344 back to Leetonia.

The Columbia Gas says the project is necessary to retire the old gas lines on each side of the Norfolk Southern Railroad Tracks.
