YOUNGSTOWN - After two years, a family that lives in the North Side of Youngstown said they had enough. Every year, land near their home is becoming more overgrown.

"Every year it gets wilder and wilder," said Todd Finley, homeowner.

The area has been overgrown since the family moved in, but has gotten worse in the past year. Since their home is next to the wooded area, they wake up to trespassers walking near their home in the middle of the night.

"And we don’t know what kind of people are running through these neighborhoods. I mean they can be coming for us, I don’t know, trying to break into our house," said Finley.

The homeowners said they see people dropping off trash at the overgrown area all the time. The couple found tires, records, and other trash on the property.

On Sunday, Finley said he saw someone pull up, and dump rubbish into the woods. That same night,  Kitchen saw about 15 racoons on their property.

"They started to dump things, and like I said, the wild animals are starting to get pretty bold, coming over here by my window… That’s too much it’s like a scary movie," said Rachel Kitchen, homeowner.

The area has become so overgrown, trees are hanging over the owner's home. Finley and Kitchen worry if this isn't fixed anytime soon, it could put the safety of their house in jeopardy.

The homeowners worry if there is a storm or a strong wind, one of the trees could fall on their home. Finley is also worries how the overgrown area will affect his property value.

Kitchen says she’s reached out to the city multiple times about the overgrown area, but nobody has helped her.

The family is hoping the city will take down some of the trees, and help clean up the trash dumped in the area.
