Sharon softball falls short in state semifinal
The Tigers lost to Harbor Creek, 9-6.
The fairytale season for the Sharon softball team came to an end in the Class 3A State Semifinal.
The Tigers came up short against Harbor Creek 9-6 at Allegheny College Monday.
"These girls accomplished so much for us this year, for our community, for our school, for Mercer County," said Dave Bodien, Sharon softball coach.
Sharon held a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the 5th inning but the Huskers scored two runs on errors to tie things up at 5.
In the sixth inning, Harbor Creek took an 8-5 lead after a three-run homer by Annabelle Cipalla.
Chloe Pagliarini scored two runs for the Tigers in the loss.
Sharon finishes the season at 25-1 and set a record for most wins in school history.
"What we accomplished has been truly amazing," said Bodien.
