Lead testing being offer next week for students at Youngstown Academy of Excellence

Youngstown City Health District is offering a lead testing clinic for students who attend Youngstown Academy of Excellence.
The free clinic will take place on Tuesday, June 25, at the Eugenia Atkinson Rec Center, 801 Otis Street in Youngstown. The clinic is in response to the US EPA report that stated the finding of lead and asbestos in some Valley schools.
Children six and younger are at the highest risk for exposure and are recommended to be tested.
The clinic will take place from 2 pm to 6 pm.
The YCHD is working with partner agencies at Ohio EPA, Ohio Department of Health, Warren City Health Department and Mahoning and Trumbull County Public Health to provide free lead testing to those who may have been exposed to lead paint or dust from Youngstown Academy of Excellence in the past year.
So far, YCHD and partner agencies have not documented any cases of elevated blood lead levels among school students but are acting proactively to ensure the health and safety of the students.
Anyone with questions or concerns should call Youngstown City Health District at 330-743-2497.
