Advanced training held at Canfield Fairgrounds for teen drivers

CANFIELD, Ohio - A special class for teen drivers was held at the Canfield Fairgrounds to help the new drivers feel more confident behind the wheel.
The Ohio Traffic Safety Office set up different tests at the fairgrounds as part of its summer training series.
The free training helps teens practice crash avoidance techniques and gain experience necessary to become a better driver.
"We see the full gamut, teens who are inexperienced when it comes to driving on ice and snow, slolem drills, braking and changing lanes," Kimberly Schwind, assistant director of the Ohio Traffic Safety Office, said.
June is National Youth Traffic Safety Month, which is the perfect time to polish up those driving skills.
The period between Memorial Day and Labor Day mark the 100 deadliest days for young drivers in Ohio. Over those 100 days, the state averages about one fatality each day, making courses like this even more helpful.
