YOUNGSTOWN - Realty Tower residents are at a loss for words since getting the news that their home will be torn down.

For the people who've called the building home, that's only the beginning of their uncertainty. Residents say they've gotten regular updates from building management, but have not been told details of any demolition plan.

Resident Deanna Rossi said she believes communication to the residents is planned, and is on the way.

“We're waiting to hear, I mean we're trying to be patient. I know a lot of people are having a hard time. It's hard to be patient when you have nothing. But we're all trying to be patient, waiting to hear if there is any hope left,” said Rossi.

One of the residents waiting for answers is Tracey Winbush. She lived with her mother in the tower.

Since the residents haven't been able to get their belongings, Winbush worries what this means moving forward.

“When they come down, who owns what in the rubble? Whatever you walked out with that afternoon, that’s your whole life now,” said Winbush.

Winbush said her biggest concern is her mother. She was moved to assisted living after the explosion.

“She's not the only one there are other people who were in independent living who have been moved to nursing homes. You need a place to lay your head, but it ain’t always home,” said Winbush.

Winbush said she's disappointed by the lack of leadership after the explosion.

“Somebody has to take the ball and carry it. Because you have the international towers, you have the realty building, different programs and different issues. Different residents and it affects the whole community,” said Winbush

Youngstown Fire Chief Barry Finley said no final decisions have been made yet on when and how the Realty building will be demolished.
