A business publication in Cleveland is reporting that Rite Aid is likely to close hundreds of pharmacies in Ohio and Michigan in the coming weeks.

Crain's Cleveland Business said "signs indicate that pharmacy chain Rite Aid will close more than 300 pharmacies..."

Crain's was also stating that Walgreens "is likely to buy the stores’ prescription files."

This comes after word of two additional Rite Aid stores closing in the Valley earlier this week.

The Philadelphia-based Rite Aid is in a restructuring process after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in late 2023.

According to Rite Aid's website, the company operates nearly 1,600 stores in 16 states, including 142 in Ohio and 185 in Michigan.
