The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley hosted its annual 'Champions Among Us' dinner at The Lake Club in Poland Tuesday evening.

The event featured special guests Archie Griffin and Donald D'Alesio.

Griffin is the only two-time Heisman Trophy winner in 1974 and 1975.

"It's always a great opportunity to support the United Way, an organization that does so much for so many people," said Griffin.

D'Alesio is a Cardinal Mooney and Youngstown State graduate. He has won two Super Bowl championships as the safeties coach for the Kansas City Chiefs.

"When I got the call that they wanted me to come, I was honored," said D'Alesio. "I've been here before in the audience and I know the people that have come before me to speak. Youngstown means everything to me so anyway I can give back I'm all for it."

More than 200 people were in attendance for the event that raises money for the United Way.

The night featured an auction with specialty items and more.
