1999: Youngstown State University trustees approve a two-percent increase for top administrators effective July 1, the smallest rise since 1996.
In their inaugural game at Cafaro Field in Niles, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers beat the Auburn Doubledays, 8-5, before a sellout crowd 6,718.
An 80-year-old Youngstown woman faces charges after her car, which was leaving the Beeghly Medical Park on Market Street, strikes and kills Millie Talcott, 84, who was walking on the sidewalk with a bag of groceries bought at the Sparkle Market.
