Mahoning County Public Health has received 2024 Ohio EPA Mosquito Control Grant Funding to take measures against mosquitoes and to reduce the risk of disease from the insects.

One measure will be spraying for adult mosquito control, which will help reduce the population of mosquitos and help prevent the spread of diseases caused by them (such as West Nile Virus, Malaria, etc.)

The Adult Mosquito Control will happen within these areas of Mahoning County on the following dates/areas:

July 9th

  • Canfield Fairgrounds
  • Chaparral Campgrounds (Green Township)

August 12th

  • Mill Creek Park
  • Western Reserve Campgrounds (Ellsworth Township)
  • Lakeside Campground (Berlin Center)
  • Lake Milton KOA Campground (Milton Township)

September 12th

  • Coy Park (Green Township)
  • Boardman Township Park
  • Austintown Township Park
  • Poland Township Park
  • Poland Village Park
  • Canfield Township Park

Spraying will be done between dusk and dawn, and spraying will be postponed if rain or wind is present.

Anyone with beehives in the above-listed areas should call the Environmental Health Division at (330) 270-2855 so the areas can be avoided by spraying.
